Bloomberg Vision is a Mixed-Reality web-based application that allows users to scan currencies and everyday objects to get real-time market data and news about the brands and companies that create them in an innovative and engaging way.

Vision was created to help people discover the powerful market data behind everyday brands by putting Bloomberg's innovative technology and information resources in their hands.
Anyone on any mobile device can use the app. It uses Computer Vision and web technologies to recognize elements in the environment and then matches them to a reference library that returns snippets of the vast amount of data available on the Bloomberg Terminal. By adding to the reference library, the system is constantly being taught to identify new objects and logos.
The “IKEA hack” and Lean Testing
To promote the app at global company events, the team created a modular event display made from IKEA furniture, scalable in size to fit various event spaces. We aimed to create a display that could be replicated easily across global regions without too much fuss.
We then placed a range of cross-industry products that varied from the mundane to high-end. We mixed small, medium, and large products that creatively played with scale to resemble a highly curated storefront. Visitors to the events tried Bloomberg Vision, which served as a platform to gain qualitative insight for the product and gather information and feedback from users to help us prioritize what to work on next with the app.
